University Academy Keighley's biggest interview assessment day
Business volunteers from Airedale Enterprise Services, Northcliffe Mortgages, Rotherwood Recruitment, UK Asset Resolution and Craven College were among the professionals giving University Academy Keighley's Year 10 students their first taste of a real interview in April.
120 students spent the day practicing their interview skills with each student taking part in a one-to-one session with a role model from the business world. Questions were focused around their future ambitions, achieiving qualifications and how their skills might make them invaluable to employers.
Students were then given feedback by the volunteers before being able to take away their own personal feedback notes to ensure future success.
Stephanie Gordon, Project Coordinator at Ahead Partnership, said: "The students really focused on what the employers had to tell them and feed back about their practice interviews. Having a local employer is the best possible way for young people to get a recruitment assessment experience before they leave school. 93% of the students said the day gave them a better idea of the skills and qualifications needed to get a job and 95% of the students said the day improved their confidence and self-belief."< Back to all news stories
