DLA Piper support inner city Leeds schools with Make the Grade


DLA Piper has supported over 1300 local students this academic year in a bid to boost employability skills and raise awareness of the career opportunities available in professional services in Leeds City Region.

By taking part in a range of activities including interview practice, guest speeches and World of Work Days business volunteers from the global law firm's Leeds office have helped young people in the Leeds area realise their potential.

DLA Piper has supported students from Leeds East Academy, Swallow Hill Community College, Shakespeare Primary School, Leeds University, Leeds Beckett University and Leeds Trinity University over the last 12 months with 90% of students taking part in these activities saying it has improved their confidence, 92% saying it has helped them understand the types of jobs they could do in the future and 95% saying it helped them better understand how business works.

Sarah Scarborough from DLA Piper said: “Working with Ahead Partnership makes it easy for us to volunteer in our local community and help to improve social mobility in inner city areas of Leeds. Our team love taking part in their exciting activities – meeting and inspiring young people at primary school, secondary school and University – and it’s fantastic to see the positive results of another year of engaging with local students.”
