**CHALLENGE OPEN FOR ENTRIES NOW**
Leeds City Council and Ahead Partnership are working together to invite young people from across Leeds to submit their thoughts on their City Centre or local town centre.
Covid-19 has changed everything, including how we travel, study and shop. Lots of us now rely on technology and are less likely to visit places in person. Our centres are being impacted by a reduction in office workers and shoppers; Leeds City Centre has seen a 66% reduction in visitors, and our local centres will also be affected by the shift to online shopping. Though many are also benefiting from an increased desire to support smaller local businesses.
This poses big questions for cities like ours. Leeds City Council want to understand how places across Leeds are changing and put you at the centre of the conversation about what’s next.
This project is part of a big conversation Leeds City Council are starting, to explore the future of Leeds over the next 10 years. Leeds City Council have launched an online survey where members of the public and businesses can tell us what they think about the centres they use. But our centres are yours too, and we want you to help shape their future – making our centres great places to live, work and visit.
We’re asking you to “find your centre” by showing us the city centre or your local town centre in Leeds through your eyes. We want to know what’s great about your centre, what could be improved and your hopes for the future of it.
Any young person aged 11 - 18 years old and living in Leeds can take part by 17 September 2021 and you can submit your entry using any medium you like, such as photos, artwork, a podcast, a video or a blog.
Full details of the challenge, a list of Leeds town centres and entry details are available in our Challenge Pack.
