Key Stage 4 students delve into the world of work at John Smeaton Academy

Students from Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 at John Smeaton Academy took a tour of the careers and post-16 options available in Leeds last week, with 22 businesses and learning providers taking part in a marketplace style Careers Event.

Businesses such as Appris, Calbee, Carillion, Mitie and Ernst & Young joined forces with education, apprenticeship and training providers such as Craven College, Leeds Apprenticeship Hub and the University of Law to give the students an opportunity to explore their future careers options and understand what it's really like to work in these sectors.

Approximately 350 students took part in this event asking volunteers meaningful questions around routes to success and how they might ready themselves for the future workforce.

This successful programme will see another Careers Event for the younger students in Key Stage 3 take place later this academic year in March 2017.
