Leeds City Academy students get a grilling from the professionals

Business volunteers from KPMG, Yorkshire Building Society, Headingley Chiropractic Clinic and the University of Huddersfield were among the professionals giving Leeds City Academy's students their first taste of a real interview earlier this month.

160 Year 10 & 11 students spent the day practicing their interview skills with each student taking part in a one-to-one session with a role model from the business world. Questions were focused around their future ambitions and how their skills might make them invaluable to employers.

Students were then given feedback by the volunteers before being able to take away their own personal feedback notes to ensure future success.

Volunteers Christine Scholes and Chris Butler from Yorkshire Bank said of the experience "The students showed determination and strength of character. This is different to anything we've ever done before and a great experience that we know the students learned from."
