Sixth form students get a taste of sweet success with Gateley Plc

Year 12 students from Bordesley Green Girls' School took on the Just Desserts Challenge hosted by national law firm Gateley Plc at their offices in Birmingham this month.

Students were mentored by volunteers from the law firm to develop an edible product and then create a business and marketing strategy to take their cakes and treats to market.

Teams then presented their ideas to a 'Dragon's Den' of Gateley Plc who chose the winning product and plan.

Tom Green, our Project Manager for the region, said: "The students really enjoyed the opportunity to work with professionals from Gateley Plc and find out how businesses work from inception to that first sale.

"Each team was assigned a mentor from the Gateley Plc team who gave the students advice to help tweak and develop their plans, and the students really valued having a professional to answer their questions. The students also got the chance to explore different job roles both at Gateley Plc and at some of their clients' businesses."
