Whitcliffe Mount School's Year 7 take on the world of work

whitcliffe be 2018

Year 7 students from Whitcliffe Mount School in Cleckheaton learned all about the world of work from a host of local businesses this week, with 280 young people taking part in a Business & Enterprise Day.

Bradford College, Gem Compliance Training, KPMG, Leeds Museums & Galleries, Paxman Coolers, Shoo Social Media, Splat Training, Thunder & Lightening Films and the University of Law were among the businesses delivering a host of interactive workshops to show students what work is really like and the types of jobs they could do in the future.

Workshops included Bradford College's exploration of the difference between a job and a career, Paxman Coolers' demonstration of scalp cooling equipment and the science behind the technology as well as Thunder & Lightening's practical workshop on the power of visual images where they asked students to create a ‘question set’ for a documentary on school dinners!

Stephanie Gordon, our Project Coordinator in the region, said "The students were really engaged and enjoyed exploring careers they might not have considered before. It was great to get such a range of businesses involved - the volunteers really showed the students what the job might be like and explained the different routes into their industries."
