Shaping Our Future is a trailblazing early-intervention programme built on a simple belief: we know which young people are at risk of disengagement long before they become NEET, so why wait until they’ve fallen through the cracks?
As the UK’s only dedicated NEET prevention programme focused on starting at 12-year-olds, Shaping Our Future works with young people at the point where futures are still being shaped. Through sustained support, employer engagement and experiences of the world of work, this four year programme helps young people build confidence, broaden their horizons and stay connected to opportunity and the places they grow up in.
Shaping Our Future is a long-term partnership between a school (or schools) and multiple employers.
Shaping Our Future is a four year pilot currently taking place with the Cockburn Multi Academy Trust in Leeds. The sustained engagement of six workshops a year means both our team and employers are developing rapport and trust with young people.
The second year of the programme is focused on enterprise skills and money mindset, recognising that the majority of students listed financial worries as one of their main concerns for the future.
