Landsec has renewed its partnership with Ahead Partnership, which will see the expansion of bespoke social value programmes in multiple locations across the UK, providing new career opportunities to more young people than ever before.

Delivered through Ahead Partnership’s bespoke model for improved social mobility, this latest collaboration will see hundreds more young people connecting with businesses and role models from key sectors and industries linked to retail and development.

The partnership sits as part of Landsec Futures, a social mobility fund which seeks to boost equality within the real estate industry and deliver £200 million worth of social value by 2030.

The collaboration between Ahead Partnership and Landsec, the UK’s largest commercial property development and investment company, guarantees significant investment into their co-designed “Made In” challenges, which reached its 2026 finale last month.

A series of employability and enterprise competitions, the programme gives young people the opportunity to learn about the diverse range of careers on offer to them in retail and design, and pitch the transformation of vacant retail units or outdoor spaces into vibrant community destinations to a panel of experts.

As part of the programme’s growth, the Made In challenge will launch at Liverpool ONE from 2027, bringing the initiative to young people in Liverpool for the first time and extending its impact beyond its existing locations, including Cardiff, Essex, Glasgow, Kent, Leeds and Portsmouth.

Our partnership with Landsec is an exemplar of the type of social value we are committed to delivering: collaborating to provide meaningful, repeated engagement opportunities, hands-on learning experiences and access to business leaders, role models and mentors.

At a time when there are more than a million young people who are Not in Education, Employment or Training, these partnerships are vital to broaden access and opportunity for young people into good jobs across growing sectors. It is only through this kind of early intervention that we can stem the tide of rising youth unemployment.

Andy Clarke, Partnerships Director at Ahead Partnership

At Landsec, we recognise the importance of early engagement in securing a fairer, more diverse future workforce. The renewal of our successful partnership with Ahead Partnership will be a powerful driving force in the delivery of our bold social value ambitions.

We are committed to improving equality across our sector, currently supporting over 30,000 people from underrepresented socioeconomic backgrounds towards long-term employment by 2030. Through our work with Ahead Partnership, we are able to identify and support young people who will benefit significantly from this type of engagement, and tailor these initiatives to them and for them.
