This month, students from Northampton School for Girls visited Silverstone Park for a day of immersive experiences in engineering as part of the Silverstone Park Schools Programme which was facilitated over 6,500 meaningful encounters between students and volunteers since it first began.

Throughout the day, young women met role models and professionals in a variety of engineering roles from businesses based at Silverstone Park including Digital Manufacturing Centre, Dumarey Green Power, Nicab, Silverstone Composites and the National College for Motorsport. Students heard first-hand about different career paths, early career routes such as apprenticeships, and the challenges and opportunities in engineering.

The event follows the launch of Silverstone Park’s Women’s Innovation Network, a new network that champions the incredible female talent in the region with the aim of driving positive change across sectors.

This isn’t about one-off gestures – this is about sustained, joined-up action.

“We’ve laid the groundwork through years of successful engagement.

“Now with WIN, we’re doubling down on making sure young women know there’s a place for them in this sector.

Chantal- Lawren Welch, Marketing Manager at Silverstone Park

ITV News Anglia attended the event to capture the tours and workshops throughout the day and featured the visit in their 6pm news bulletin, further amplifying the message of inclusivity and opportunity in engineering, ahead of International Women in Engineering day on 23 June 2025.
