FLAGSHIP EVENT

Girl Tech

Exciting careers experience day for students aged 12-14 years, inspiring young women into careers in digital and technology.

Myth-busting digital & tech

Girl Tech was established in 2018 to address the lack of female representation in the tech and digital sectors. Since then, it has grown year on year attracting young people whose gender is underrepresented in the industry to network with role models and discover their place within a career in digital and technology.

Our goal is to debunk myths surrounding the digital sector by introducing young women to inspirational role models from a range of backgrounds who have built their careers in the digital and tech industry. The initiative aims to showcase the myriad of exciting roles available within this field, not just in technical or specialist roles but in every area in the sector.

Girl Tech is a highlight of the year with industry-leading digital & tech businesses joining forces to inspire the next generation of talent and improve diversity, inclusion and skills challenges in the industry.

Together we:

  • 01. Reach young people at a critical time in their education, before they choose their GCSE options, so they can make informed decisions
  • 02. Showcase the variety of careers available in the sector
  • 03. Share different career journeys and first hand experiences of working in digital & tech
  • 04. Showcase alternative routes into a career in tech, including apprenticeships and bootcamps
  • 05. Network with young people who are interested in a career in digital & tech

Hear from Girl Tech supporters

It was good to have the opportunity to tell young women about the career options available to them, and especially the different routes into those industries since I was unaware of it at their age but have been able to get my current position without a computer science degree.
