Employers of all sectors and sizes can help our young people
OPPORTUNITIES TO SUPPORT YOUR COMMUNITY THROUGHOUT THE PANDEMIC
Whilst everyone has suffered hardship through the pandemic, young people have been dealt a terrific blow as a result of school closures. Economic uncertainty and a challenging job market means that we need to double our efforts to help young people find their way forward.
To ensure we can continue to work with employers to support disadvantaged young people across the UK we have created an exciting and innovative programme of activities that schools and their students can access online and that business volunteers can take part in even if they're working from home.
Ahead Partnership have been helping employers create social change for 15 years. We're asking the business community, education sector and volunteers to join with us to help our economy and young people bounce back.
Volunteering opportunities throughout lockdown include:
Virtual Work Experience
These flexible work experience packages may include simulation projects, introduction webinars to the business, workshops with integrated tasks and virtual interview sessions with feedback and coaching for participating students – all taking place online or pre-recorded for students to access. Virtual Careers Panels
Our virtual interactive quiz format encourages students to ask business volunteers their own questions about career journeys and key skills for employment. Chaired by Ahead Partnership, the session takes place on video call with a group of students, their teachers and five/six business volunteers, or it may be pre-recorded for students to access from home.
Virtual Mock Interview Practice
Interview practice provides students with the opportunity to practice speaking about themselves to employers before they leave school. Interview questions and on-the-day support are provided by Ahead Partnership with each volunteer interviewing a number of students in turn.
Virtual Speed Networking
Virtual speed networking is an opportunity for students to gain insight into the roles available within various business sectors. Volunteers virtually ‘visit’ each classroom with a small presentation about their career journey followed by a Q&A. These may also be recorded for students to access from home.
Virtual ‘EmployMe’ Bootcamp Workshops
An online bootcamp that helps students prepare for future recruitment processes, volunteers will lead short workshops on themes including interviews, CV writing and assessment centres pulling on their own experiences. All resources are provided by Ahead Partnership.
All of these activities take place and/or shared with students online, making it easy for volunteers and young people to take part from work or from home. All resources are provided and Ahead Partnership facilitate each activity to make sure it goes smoothly. Activities also give you the opportunity to 'meet' volunteers from other organisations. BESPOKE SERVICES FOR EMPLOYERS
Trusted by some of the UK's leading employers, we offer a bespoke service that links your organisation with communities in your operating or target areas. Together with you we plan and deliver activities for people in your locality which offer them an insight into your industry and enhance their employability skills.
Activities are carefully planned in partnership with community, education or other partners to ensure they provide meaningful, hands-on activities and experiences, not only for your local community but for your business volunteers too.
Your programme can:
- Strengthen your recruitment brand with millennials and the future workforce
- Tackle the skills deficit by providing experience of work and developing employability skills
- Improve social mobility, diversity and inclusion by bringing opportunities to different audiences
- Provide skills development opportunities for your staff
- Provide an effective way to fulfil regulatory, planning and other statutory obligations as well as strengthen your relationship with clients and supply chain.
